I'll apologize if I repeat (and I'm sure I will) some already-been-reported bugs.
When I first signed on, created my character, loaded in pre-searing, everything was fine. Almost immediately, I noticed the next in the chat window say "A new build of Guild Wars.....and reload." So I, naturally, exited the game and reloaded before doing anything but walk for about three feet. When I reloaded my character, I was in searing ascalon with no skills and I became very confused. I also had lions arch on my map already. I'm sure a few people were confused as to why a lvl 1 elementalist was running around lions arch...what made this worse is I didn't know something was wrong...lol
Eventually I loaded a new character and everything was fine, although the academy was only one mission and took me less than five minutes to do (i've heard talk of certain things that happen in the academy that i never encountered) so I don't know if that was a bug. btw I was extremely blown away at pre-searing after running aimlessly around searing ascalon, though a bit surprised at the difference in game quality.
Also, while fighting outside of Yak's bend, my party encountered a group of "Ice Elementals/Golems/I dont remember" creature things, and they ran toward us, then stopped. We took them out easy because they just stood there as we attacked, as if they didnt acknowledge us. They were moving, but only turning or moving their arms, they didn't attack.
One more: several times when the terrain increased in altitude, both henchmen and human players would somtimes 'run through the hill' rather than go over it...I don't think that is supposed to happen...

As far as I can tell it's not specifically related to Guild Wars other than Guild Wars aggressively claiming processor time (since I've been blessed by that horrid screeching in some other applications), but I do believe I managed to get rid of the screeching by uninstalling the official Audigy drivers and software and replacing them with open-source drivers from the kX Project, which are designed specifically to work with the sound chipset found on SB Live! and Audigy line cards. Their latest stable drivers support almost everything except the EAX portion of the Audigy card, which to me was a fair tradeoff for saving my hearing.
|
Thanks for the info. =)
Ah, yes. The screeching. I forgot that because i stopped using the programs that caused it (FL Studio among others)... I'll look into the kxproject when i get back to my desktop computer. Not everyone will want to replace the original drivers though, so, if possible, this should be fixed.
Another bug, to justify this post :
Not sure if this should really be called a bug, but still.
When you look at your character through the transparent area of a texture, like grass, the character's cape isn't drawn. Not really a big thing, but I feel it makes the game seem to be of lower quality. I believe there are some other objects that are not rendered when looked at like this.

I never thought to raise this before, but when I take screenshots, 60% - 75% of the time the ground plane shows up as a textureless white. I don't know if that's video card -related.

Don't laugh. It's an Intel integrated.
You've answered my question, though.

I hope it doesn't have anything to do with the settings, but I doubt it would since it only happened twice. Other people that were with me on that mission also said that they had experienced a problem once or twice with getting stuck, but they were always able to get out. I, on the other hand, was actually visible stuck into the ramp I had been on, as if the ramp had been constructed around me. I should have taken a screenshot for prove, but I was so flustered at the time that it didn't even cross my mind.

Perhaps the most annoying part of the beta, I constantly encountered looping sounds. Not all sounds, though. The most common would be when a 'scorpion' attacked, the attack sound (<1/2sec) would keep repeating at the loctation. Only a few times, when I picked up gold, that sound would repeat at the location where I picked it up. The only other sound, and the most degrading, was when one of my team was hit and made an 'ugh' sound. This sound would loop...and stay with the character, so I had to listen to it whenever they were close by. Those were the only sounds that I experienced looping from.
I mensioned previously that I started the game in searing ascalon. When I started a new character in pre-searing, I experienced this sound loop bug much less frequently. Good luck to finding the bug, as my information is general.

UI customization got reset each time I played a different character. If I just restarted the game and started playing with the same character I quit with it, I’d get the proper customization, so it’s not like it didn’t save at all.
Hotkeys should be saved for each character so you can use different setups for each, guess it used to be like this during some BWE but not anymore for some reason.
Oh and sound glitches a little, might be my setup but dunno what I could change.

Agent Dark Bootie, games perform differently depending on the hardware setup of the player. When people report a compatibility issue with their system, it is entirely besides the point to mention the game 'works fine for you'. It simply doesn't change the fact that on the otherwise working configuration of other people they experienced glitches.
For most of these hardware-related bugs it's very logical to assume it 'works just fine' for 90% or more of the players, otherwise ArenaNet would have fixed those issues a long while ago already. Therefore there's no need to comment on your own experiences every time someone reports such an issue if you don't experience the same issue or are not capable of offering new insights into why it occurs.

Apologies if already posted:
UI customization definitely is not holding when entering instances.
For example, if I move the party window over to the left side of the screen, and enter an instance, the party window pops back over to the right side.
If I then move the party window over to the left again, and go back into town, the party window again pops back over to the right side. Reported this with /bug.

I have only had something like this happen to me once in the last several weekends. In my case I was walking toward a bridge to pick up a drop, and when I hit the bridge support, I was thrown backwards into the air, and was stuck there floating above the ground until the rest of the team finished the mission. I very seriously doubt it's a setting issue, it seems to be a programming glitch (path-finding?) of some sort. I've been on several missions since then that other players in the group have gotten stuck in various places. Most of them involved bridges in some way or other, and the majority of them were able to work their way loose, but sometimes they were unlucky, like I was and were stuck until they left, or the mission ended. I did take a screenshot of my encounter if anyone wants to see it. Just PM me and I'll send it to you.

I also found that sometimes I could walk through the area where you're supposed to teleport (as in go to another area that needs to be loaded) and instead I can continue right on through. This happened more frequently when someone from the party was taking a while to load the area. I never explored too far so I don't know what would happen if I just continued to go on.
